Terms & Conditions

Endometrial/Fertility scan specific conditions

  • We are a non-diagnostic clinic. We are able to report our findings, however we cannot formally diagnose based on our findings and it is your responsibility to contact your GP or health care provider should you wish to seek a formal diagnosis.

  • We can provide a report to use as evidence to your GP or health provider to obtain a referral, however in the majority of cases scans will need to be repeated within a diagnostic setting (e.g. NHS).

  • Our services are supplementary and cannot be used instead of NHS referrals.

  • Whilst it can provide insights pelvic ultrasound alone cannot determine the cause of most gynaecological or fertility issues.

  • I consent to the ultrasound examination and I am aware this is a non- diagnostic procedure. I have read and understood the disclaimer and will not hold ScanLinc responsible for any abnormalities not detected during the scan.

Services including venepuncture

  • We are a non-diagnostic clinic offering venepuncture services for blood testing performed by third party laboratories.

  • We can describe the function of each test, however it is the responsibility of the client to determine which is best for their needs.

  • Venepuncture is a clinical practice which uses a needle to pierce a vein in order to draw blood. Typically taken from a vein in the antecubital fossa (inner elbow and forearm) or on occasion your hand.

  • Most individual tests require less than 10ml of blood. Where multiple tests are requested the amount is kept to a minimum and only one venepuncture site is necessary.

  • All of our staff are fully trained and all practices are set up to minimise risk to our clients, however each venepuncture carries the risk of bruising, pain, infection or fainting.

  • There is a risk that the first attempt at venepuncture is unsuccessful and a reattempt is necessary. To maximise the chances of success and reduce the risks you should eat and drink well before your appointment. If you have not we reserve the right to refuse to attempt venepuncture for your own comfort and rebook you an appointment for another day/time.

  • You have the right to withdraw your consent at anytime.

  • We can signpost you to services or contact your GP/healthcare provider on your behalf with your consent. However, we are not able to directly refer you or offer any treatment or diagnostic services for any irregular results.

Pregnancy related terms and conditions

  • The purpose of our business is to provide additional pregnancy scans.  Our scans should not replace your routine NHS scans.

  • Sex identification cannot be 100% guaranteed. It is only the opinion of the Sonographer and therefore should be taken as such. On the rare occasion our opinion is not corroborated at later scans during your pregnancy we will offer a free rescan. However, no refunds will be given regardless of the outcome.

  • When attending for 3/4D ultrasound it is important to note that the scan is baby led and therefore images will vary greatly dependent on baby’s position. One re-scan is offered at the sonographers discretion.

  • Due to the nature of ultrasound, there are several factors which can affect the quality of your images.  Above average BMI, empty bladder, excess adipose tissue and changes to bowel habits/bowel gas.

  • Please do not go to the toilet immediately prior to your scan.  It is important that all scans be commenced with a moderately full bladder.

  • We will always endeavour to do our best to obtain the images required on the day of your appointment however, if this is not possible we will offer one other appointment subject to availability, at no extra cost, and at the discretion of management to return for a rescan to achieve this.

  • All scans need to be paid for in full by the end of the first scan appointment.

  • If an abnormality is detected by the sonographer during a scan she will explain her findings as fully as possible and may contact your GP (with consent) or write a report for you to give to a healthcare provider.

I consent to the ultrasound examination and I am aware this is a non- diagnostic procedure. I have read and understood the disclaimer and will not hold ScanLinc responsible for any abnormalities not detected during the scan.
